Professional life
I am a 25 year old interior design student at the Cibap Vocational College for Design, in Zwolle. My journey started in the summer of 2016, when I started my study in Graphical Design. At the end of the second year in the summer of 2018, I decided to put my study on a permanent hiatus.
Coincidently, I ended up in a gap year. This gave me the opportunity to move out, work fulltime for a year and clear my head. I've been living on my own since the age of 19.
After the 2019 summer break, I went back to school. This time I joined the AV-study at Cibap in the final year. I learned to handle a camera and edit footage. One year, including an 20 week long internship later, I graduated in 2020.
The urge to learn and improve never really went away, and I decided to join my third and current study; interior design. I am still following this study as we speak. I'm expected to graduate in the summer of 2023.
And after that? Who knows, maybe I'll try to squeeze in another study, maybe I'll start my own business. Only the time can tell. I'm excited to learn what the future holds.
Due to this diverse education palet, I'm enjoying a broad spectrum of digital knowledge. I can work with programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, SketchUp and TwinMotion.
Personal life
I was born on the 4th of July 1999 in Arnhem, The Netherlands. I also have a sister, who is 3 years younger than me. In 2006 my parents decided that they wanted us to grow up in a town instead of a city, and we moved to Lemmer.
We are a seafaring family, and the fact that Lemmer grands easy access to both the Frisian Lakes on one side and the IJsselmeer on the other side made this a fine place to live.
As we entered 2018, my urge to develop and become independent grew quickly. Feeling that I wanted to explore myself and the world, I decided to move out. Since then I lived in several places, but currently I am based in Steenwijk, relatively close to Zwolle.
Even though I moved out, growing up next and on the water left its permanent mark on me in a positive sense. I never stopped loving the sea, marine life and everything connected to it.
As a family we've been sailing as long as I can remember. Our holiday destinations from 2000 to 2005 were usually in the Mediterranean area, countries like Croatia, Italy and France (Corsica). We would drive our own boat "Traveller" (Etap 22i) southwardly via road, only to put her in the water somewhere along the Mediterranean coast.
